The Rim

For more than 5 years we are working on the production of the rim and the brake drum.

Once, shortly after we had received the first good sample the company in Spain went bankrupt. During the process of bankruptcy all forms disappeared and at the end after more than 2 years work we had no results.

Today no more companies produce this sort of rims that we use in our heavy military bikes.
The other thing is the material thickness.

The original rim is made of 2.5 mm sheet metal.

In Germany rims are offered that are made of 1.5 mm sheet metal.

Ours is produced of 2.5 mm sheet metal just as original.

The easiest way to determine this is the weight.

The original rim (and ours) made of 2.5 mm sheet metal weighs  4.2 Kg.

The rim made of 1.5 mm sheet metal only weighs 3.4 Kg.

The Brake Drum

It is similar with the brake drum.

The original brake drum is pressed of 5.5 mm sheet metal

Ours is also made of 5.5 mm sheet metal.

In Germany brake drums are offered that are only made of 4.0 mm sheet metal.

The easiest way to determine this is the weight too.

The original brake drum (and ours) is made of 5.5 mm sheet metal and weighs 5.4 Kg.

The one made of 4.0 mm sheet metal only weighs 4.6 Kg.

Our 2.5 mm sheet metal rim is additionally zinc-plated and as original with a round horn.

A rim made of 1.5 mm sheet metal and a square horn.
